Hi guys! I have missed my food and healthy living blog. I have all these great recipes and photos to share with you that have been building up over the last three months. Plus I am planning a new garden which will debut in the spring! Actually lots of garden plans are in the works.
Here’s what you can look forward to:
Vegetable Gardening for Small Spaces I have been reading many blogs and books and I’ll share with you some of the specifics of using the space you have to grow vegetables and herbs.
Worm Composting Kitchen Scraps Why worms make sense for folks living in apartments or condos.
Quick Wholesome Meals: Recipes that come together in 30 minutes that are tasty, mindful of your body and your pocket books.
Canning and Preserving I really enjoyed it last year and I will be planning my year out. When and How will be the big ones shared and recipes!
Ideas for Nourishing Packable Snacks and Lunches I have a full time job and I’ll reveal to you what I bring to work for breakfast, lunch and snacks that are easy, wholesome and healthy.
Foraging for Wild Fruit, Fungus and Fronds As we head into spring it’ll be time to gather fern fronds, wild onions, ramps and wild berries. I look forward to some great Hikes too…
Well, I think that should keep me plenty busy.
By the way, what do you think of my new blog design? I’m still working on the heading. If you notice anything that isn’t working or confusing let me know.
Good Morning (or Good Night for those who have not hit the hay yet – like me)
One of my main goals for 2011 is to be Happy!! I bet you did not know that I love photography. I learned this love from my dear mother!! (Thanks Mom) Mr’s sister is an artist and she has been drawing everyday in her doodle book for over a month now, so I felt I could do something similar!! In the light of projects for 2011 I have decided to partake in Project 365. I will be posting them to my new Tumblr account, instead of here… I think it would be TOO many photos and not my focus of this blog.
I do promise to share some of my favourite shots on a weekly or monthly basis. Also feel free to challenge me to a week of a certain theme!!
I have to say I am sorry for being MIA for the past little while. We have had some big stressors going on at home and in my life.
We live in an apartment building and I recently found out that other apartments in the build on the other side and on different floors have some unwanted visitors. This is hard for me to say because I feel there is a such a negative stigma but I am going to share. 2 Apartments on the 3rd and 4th floor have bed bugs. From what I have read and been told (as I can not look at those website without beginning to have an anxiety attack) is that this is very common right now across North America. None the less I feel uncomfortable in my home.
My landlord has informed us that we do not have them. Which has eased my mind slightly although I still worry. That’s what I do. I have not been posting because I have been home very little.
Also, this week (Wednesday) I had a Colonoscopy and an Endoscopy which was a HORRIBLE experience. The doctors are still trying to figure out what causes the horrid pain I have every so often and why I have to go to the bathroom so frequently. I have to Thank Ellie for being there for me and for making me soup when she brought me home!!
Yet I am feeling a bit better, and I am looking forward to sharing more of my successes…
I have been going to the gym regularly as well… more on that to come!
This is an apology to myself for letting my demons get the best of me. I am a clean and healthy happy person. For a couple weeks I did not feel that way. From time to time you may see more of these posts. Its a way for me to address my inner concerns and get to the root of my problem.
How do you cope with stressors? Do you keep a journal?? Are you willing to share your weakness??
For any and all who followed before I had done the Whole Life Challenge back in June 2009. Well lets say I fell off the wagon. Given my current state with the potential of having Crohn’s or IBD I will be revamping and restarting the Whole Life Challenge. I intend to have this last for me for 1 month (to start) or 4 weekly posts with how and what is going on with my challenge. I hope to continue after wards. This challenge will begin on August 16th (the same day I start my new job).
Some of my changes:
- Eat BREAKFAST every day.
- Take the stairs in the apartment. (Can’t at work, alarms will sound)
- Take a 30 minute walk each day
- No POP!! (Big one for me to break)
- Drink more water
- Do Yoga 30 minutes 3 times a week
- Do lengths 3 times a week
- Limit Sugar intake
- Eat more fibre (In hopes to ease tummy issues)
- Pack a lunch everyday (no lunch at the office)
- Enjoy the small things!
- Read a book in that time… Maybe 2
- Research joining a gym
Please feel free to join in!! Comment on your own progress on your blog and link back to the week your in. I will be having weekly posts to show you how I did the week before.
- August 22th 2010 (Completion of Week 1)
- August 29th 2010 (Completion of Week 2)
- September 5th 2010 (Completion of Week 3)
- September 12th 2010 (Completion of Week 4 and WLC)
I have let some know that there have been some medical issues. I have been suffering a lot of pain. The doctors are not sure what is wrong just yet. Although my Nan had Crohn’s and they think I might have it as well…
Basically I am in sharp pain. I have not been able to pin point trigger foods. I wish I knew what I should do… I have founds some links:
If you have any suggestions or tips I would be happy to hear them!! I know there are probably a lot of people who suffer from this or have the symptoms although do not think anything is wrong. To be honest, I did not realize there was an issue.
So I have been trying to figure out what I should eat. Low Fiber, No Fiber, Gluten Free? I would again greatly appreciate any input!
Is there a person in your life you look to for advice? Are they a friend or family member? Or do you have more that one.
I have many Guru’s. I feel that one should have a multitude of life experiences which in my opinion bring us Gurus.
I posted last week that reaching out to a stranger can be a GREAT thing. Well I would like to say that Rita @ The Giggly Bits has become my Motivation and Healthy living Guru. (Surprise Rita).
She has written many posts that I whole heartedly recommend. Her most recent post is to create a vision board and to write a mission statement for your healthy lifestyle. So I took her advice and here is my Healthy Mission Statement (note it may evolve as it is a work in progress):
“Ensuring to promote healthy lifestyle by learning and exploring food options. Promoting a stronger and flexible body, mind and soul, by partaking in physical exercise and yoga.”
So we moved into our new place last Saturday, we have been here for a week and we are still unpacking and decluttering.
Well to be honest I started this post a week ago and got side tracked… so I will finish… The place is awesome. I love out new home!! We went to ikea and bought a huge stand for our tv – that was so difficult… they said it would fit the tv and well it didnt!! So we went through tons of work to get it to fit. BUT IT IS UP!! Plus looks great!!
Today the weather dipped down a lot!! It is -9*C here and feels like -19*C… for anyone who wonders I do have another blog that I am graduating (I guess you could say) from. If you are interested in crafts or my older posts feel free to go give them a read. http://littlemisscrochet.wordpress.com/ I will still post there but this will be my new blog home!!
